Special platform to tie up with entrepreneurs- The New Indian Express

Hyderabad: Entrepreneurs have always made their way by doing something unique and creative. Thanks to start-ups, the world has become a creative and innovative place to live. This was only possible where the mentors inspired people to come up with something new and different. Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) is a non-profit organization established to foster the creativity of entrepreneurs. Now they will organize a global summit where much of the focus will be on mentoring budding start-ups which will be held in Hyderabad from December 12 to 14. CE catches up with Suresh Raju, Co-Chairman, TiE Global Summit and President, TiE Hyderabad who talks about the summit and how he wants the city to grow.

Asked about the Global Summit and how he wants to focus on the whole concept of reaching out to people and mentoring entrepreneurs, Suresh says, “TiE has been trying to help the start-up ecosystem and entrepreneurial growth for the past 30 years. is We started in Silicon Valley in California and we have spread all over the world. Today, Hyderabad is one of TiE’s vibrant chapters along with Silicon Valley, Boston, Atlanta, Delhi and Bangalore, we are across the globe.

Once a year the entire organization meets in one chapter and this time it is Hyderabad. It will happen again in the same city after 10 years. The Global Summit was held in Dubai last year and is now here and next year it will be held in Singapore. We are expecting more than 2,000 people and most of them are entrepreneurs and senior executives. Experienced entrepreneurs come from different cities. We have 1,000 start-ups who have signed up for the event.”

On the idea behind the summit and what will happen at the summit, he says, “We have about 105 speakers who are CEOs and several venture capital owners. All these people have established themselves in the investment industry. We have about 22 unicorn founders coming up like Ashish Goyal from Urban Ladder, Sandeep Agarwal and more. We have lined up some interesting discussions. We have 150 speakers from various places including Sunil Shetty. Many women entrepreneurs are also coming. It is intended to be a two-day conference and we will have more than 60 sessions running parallel to each other in both auditoriums. In addition to that, we have a lot of investor and start-up-related programs. Investor mashup helps start-ups pitch ideas to investors. We have several master classes on start-up.

We are also doing a global women’s competition which is bringing winners from 40 cities around the world to compete here for the finals and we will announce the final winner who will receive a prize money of $100,000.”

About choosing Hyderabad for the Global Summit, he says, “This revolves around different places and Hyderabad is a very vibrant chapter as part of the ecosystem and we bid for it and worked hard to bring it to Hyderabad. As part of which we had to do many activities in Hyderabad during the year. As this is the next city across India, we have given it to Hyderabad and we are happy to come here and host it. TiE Hyderabad conducts 1,020 programs every year and we will continue to do so in the future as well.”
