Brazil are favorites to win the World Cup and they showed why as they eliminated South Korea in the round of 16. But the Croatian side’s continued interest in the 2018 final promises to make life difficult for the Selecao in their quarter-final on Friday.
Brazil’s attack clicked again with Neymar’s return to the line-up in the final 4-1 win. The Paris Saint-Germain star returned from a foot injury to put together another impressive display as Brazil scored all of their goals at half-time.
It promises to be a different story against Croatia, who will believe they can contain Brazil on par with fellow Europeans Switzerland and Serbia, although both still have big losses in group level.
The common perception around Croatia going into the tournament is that the core of the team is four years old and therefore steps are slow. But they managed more than 120 minutes against Japan in the previous round, progressing on penalties though puts the oldest starting lineup in international knockout games since 2006. They will be happy to show the suspects again, as they did in 2018.

5 hours from the start: Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic has said he wants to replicate Switzerland’s defensive compactness against Brazil despite the Swiss winning the match 1-0.
“Brazil are the fastest and best team in this World Cup. We will not leave them a big chance,” Dalic told the media and officials. “If we play wide, we will have big problems. But on the other hand we know that when they lose the ball, they are under a lot of pressure if they don’t hold the ball inside The next few seconds, they had a problem, so. we’ll try to take that into account. Our confidence won’t drop.”
The theme from the Croatian camp is clear. Brazil is better, but…
